Hiroshi Hasegawa was born in the Kanagawa prefecture of Japan. He began making music with voice and drums, and in 1989 he was a founding member of the Japanese noise group C.C.C.C. (aka Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) with Mayuko Hino, Ryuichi Nagakubo, and Fumio Kosakai. Hasegawa began his solo project Astro in 1993, playing vintage analog synthesizers by Moog and EMS. He has amassed an extensive discography over the years, including numerous split releases and collaborations with international artists such as Sudden Infant, Richard Ramirez, and PAN label founder Bill Kouligas. His output covers a wide range of styles, drifting between dreamy spaced out bliss and full-on waterfalls of beautiful noise.
