Outernational free jazz from Lisbon, the music of Alförjs could as well be an ethnographic soundtrack from another planet. The trio of Bernardo Álvares (contrabass), André Pinto (saxophone, electronics), and Raphael Soares (drums) delve deep into the outer realms of what jazz and electronic music can sound like. Urban shamanism, magical practices, and ancient/future world views collide in unsuspecting ways to create a unique sound from a unique ensemble. Alförjs have a very special place among what is more intriguing and radical in this final stretch of the 21st century's second decade.
