Hugo Paris studied music theory and engineering while at university in Le Mans, France before moving to America to work on the LIGO project at M.I.T. and later relocating to San Francisco. He visited Stanford University's CCRMA lab where he got the idea for a polyphonic modular instrument, and in 2016 he moved to Portland, Oregon to develop the idea for leading Eurorack manufacturer 4MS. In 2019 his invention became the company's flagship product: the SWN. The past two years were spent writing his latest album, Threaded Habitat, a collaboration between Jacktone Records and Beacon Sound.
